Flair Data Systems hosts the first Cowgirls in Cybersecurity event on Oct. 5th, 2023

Flair Data Systems will kick off Cybersecurity Awareness Month with a Cowgirls In Cybersecurity Happy Hour and fireside chat with Flair’s vCISO, Jessica Nemmers., just before Texas/OU weekend!

Flair Data will host female cybersecurity experts for light bites, bubbles, and a community conversation about top-of-mind cybersecurity topics inside and outside of the home. We are excited to continue building a network of Women in Cybersecurity as well!

This is a limited attendance, invitation only event. All attendees will receive an autographed copy of “The CISO Mentor” a book coauthored by Jessica, that offers practical advice to anyone advancing in their cybersecurity careers. Attendees will also receive some swag to get ready for Texas/OU weekend, no matter what team you are rooting for! There will also be a raffle for prizes from our Partners. We will start bubbles, bites and networking at 4pm, and then walk across the street to Tecovas to do a little shopping.

  • When: Oct. 5th
  • Time: 4-7pm

Who is vCISO Jessica Nemmers?

Jessica is known in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area as the “Ballerina Turned CISO” and joined Flair Data in February of 2023, to support our growing Cybersecurity Consulting practice. She will be sharing some highlights of her journey from professional ballerina to a recognized cybersecurity leader and author.

As ransomware attacks and data breaches continue, new regulations and recommendations have been announced to help companies to better protect their operations and customers from emerging cyber threats. Whether it is the SEC’s announcement of new cybersecurity rules or the newly released draft of the NIST 2.0 Core framework, the cybersecurity landscape is more dynamic than ever. Jessica will highlight how industry changes may affect security professionals in the coming months. You will also have an opportunity to meet our Partners who can share their perspectives.

Why a female in Cybersecurity event?

Females, especially in technology related fields, are a small group. “We feel that there is a need for networking, focused on giving women the connections that they need to feel supported in their career”, said Emily Bell-Wootten, Director of Marketing and Customer Success at Flair Data. “We are going to have a great group at this event! We have CISO’s to students at local colleges registered and believe this will make for a great conversation. Who would you call if you had a cyber-attack? How will you stop a cyber-attack from happening to your organization? How will you mentor women in tech fields? We hope to answer this and more in our discussion.”

Flair Data Systems is looking forward to hosting more cybersecurity professionals at events in the future.
